Impactos objetivos y percibidos de la Copa Mundial de Fútbol de 2014 en Brasil

Resumen

Megaeventos deportivos alteran significativamente la realidad social, política, económica, ambiental y urbanística de las ciudades sedes. El análisis de los impactos de la realización de megaeventos para el país o la ciudad anfitriona puede abordar sus efectos objetivos o las percepciones de los residentes en las comunidades de anfitrionas. Este artículo analiza los impactos de la Copa Mundial de Fútbol de 2014 celebrada en Brasil en las dos perspectivas metodológicas. La evaluación de los impactos objetivos se realizó a través de una amplia revisión de literatura y de documentos, mientras que la evaluación del impacto subjetivo utilizó la información primaria recopilada a través de 3770 entrevistas con los residentes de las doce ciudades anfitrionas del campeonato. Los datos fueron analizados por medio de modelos de ecuaciones estructurales para examinar la relación estructural entre los impactos percibidos y el apoyo popular para el evento. Los resultados muestran que las percepciones tanto de los impactos positivos cuanto negativos son determinantes significantes de lo apoyo a la realización de megaeventos.
