Reflexiones teóricas sobre el decrecimiento turístico: una crítica a la naturaleza capitalista del turismo

Resumen

La naturaleza capitalista del turismo ha generado efectos devastadores que lo hacen estructuralmente insostenible. Por ello, es necesario replantear alternativas con propósitos críticos, transformadores y emancipatorios, tal como sugiere el decrecimiento turístico. El propósito de este artículo es analizar los elementos y características que distinguen la propuesta de decrecimiento turístico, a través de un análisis documental, para identificar las acciones que la favorecen. La investigación se basó en la revisión de 41 artículos de acceso abierto en las plataformas Scopus y Web of Science, cuyo tema central es el decrecimiento en contextos turísticos. La revisión permitió identificar cinco actores clave y agrupar acciones en cuatro dimensiones interrelacionadas y complementarias entre sí. Se concluye que el decrecimiento tiene el potencial para transformar el modelo hegemónico del turismo, sin embargo, al ser una propuesta que surge del llamado primer mundo, puede generar tensiones y contradicciones con sus propósitos de deconstrucción.
